Webflow Review [2024] - Is It Worth It?

If you're considering Webflow as a tool for creating a professional website for your business, it's important to have a clear understanding of its features and limitations (referred to as pros and cons). It is recommended to thoroughly evaluate the tool you plan to use for at least a year, if not longer. As someone who has personally used Webflow for nearly 5 years, and has extensive experience with other platforms such as Django (10 years), WordPress (even longer), Drupal, e107, and more, I can provide you with an informative review that will help you make an informed decision. So, let's explore the question "What Should I Use to Build the Website in 2024."

And the best part? You just pay a little bit each month or year to use it. How rad is that?

How Much does it Cost (Yearly)?
👉 Hey, there is also a FREE plan available for YOU!

Webflow provides a variety of plans to meet your needs. Webflow pricing is confusing so if you need help choosing the right option, feel free to comment below.

Webflow Site Plans Pricing (2024)

Plan Type Starter Basic CMS Business Enterprise
Yearly Free $14 $23 $39 Custom
Monthly Free $18 $29 $49 Custom

There are 5 Site plans (1 is free)

And 3 Ecommerce plans (no free plans)

The key thing to understand is that this cost covers the hosting service.

Last year, Webflow announced a useful feature for international businesses (or businesses that care about SEO), called the “Localization” plans. These plans can be added on to any paid Site plan. However, as of February 2024, they are not yet available with Ecommerce plans (Digi2 awaits too).

“Localization has already drastically improved our workflows — and we’re so excited to see the SEO benefits across regions.”
Laura Barker
Senior Creative Manager, Sojern

Using the Localization plan, you have the ability to personalize your site for visitors from all over the world. It's been reported by many users that they have experienced SEO benefits in various regions ever since they started utilizing it.

So How Much Webflow Cost in 2024?

Let's say we have an example based on our website. Digi2 uses the Ecommerce plan, which costs us $29 per month. So, for our requirements, we end up paying $348 per year for Webflow. And we don't need to worry about hosting or updating add-ons like many WordPress businesses do.

Please take a look at the official pricing page: https://webflow.com/pricing

and the Localization plan: https://webflow.com/localization

I skipped explaining the Workspace plans.

Let's Explore the Wonderful World of Webflow Together!

Webflow is growing every year, and that's actually a positive thing!

Dashboard

The initial view after creating an account is the Dashboard. After creating a new site, you will see its card displayed. The Dashboard serves as a central hub where you can create sites, access Webflow tutorials, select a paid subscription plan, manage billing account details, invite team members, integrate with third-party apps, and purchase templates.

There is certainly more to explore, so let's dive into it!

Tutorials

Webflow offers a bunch of tutorials that drive you through the fundamental things. You can use them to get an overview on how to use the platform. They also offer some specific tutorials showing how to build a website, explain a CSS designing inside, and much more. To find out more, check the Webflow Courses page.

Create a new site

Webflow offers an extensive array of template designs, both free and paid, with prices ranging from $24 to $129.

You can choose the prepared builds:

You also have the option to purchase a template from the gallery:

Of course there is a lot templates, and really tons of elements available for free:

Supercharge your site with Apps

Webflow integrations library is growing. This means that you can enhance your website and connect powerful tools to your Webflow site in minutes!

HubSpot, Make, LiveChat and event more are within reach.

The full list of available integration apps you can use is here: https://webflow.com/apps

Libraries

This is also one of the coolest features in Webflow. The Library allows you to build websites faster, using powerful layouts that are pre-prepared by top creators. Each Library contains at least several dozens of components (like Footers, Navbars, CTA Sections, Banners etc.) you can use on your website.

Feel free to install and use one of them at: https://webflow.com/libraries

Backups - Restore or Preview your changes at any time!

Everytime you make a change by publishing your website the auto-backup is created. This way you are fully backed up and you can restore the older version with ease - just click the Restore button.

The other function is that Webflow allows you to Preview the older version of your website.

Fonts

There are tons of fonts available to use within the platform. Webflow offers Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts. You can always upload your custom font and use it on the website.

Forms

This is also a native feature used in Webflow. Once you create a form on your website and someone fill it out and click send button, you will be able to do many things like:

  • 📢 Notification: (e.g. notify your Sales Team about new potential client)
  • 📩 Export Data: There is an option that allows you to Export Data to .csv file with Form submission data
  • Set the Logic Flow: Send an email to your client or specify which Department should be notified or more complex flow like sending user data to your CRM system by using HTTP requests.

SEO

As mentioned above, many businesses have seen a big impact on SEO from using the platform. I can confirm that, by analyzing the Digi2 clients’ websites, Webflow improves many factors that are important for SEO.

100% more traffic from SEO after migrating to Webflow:

As an SEO Specialist, I would say that this significant increase in traffic is because of Webflow’s clean HTML code without any unnecessary things and its cloud-based hosting services which are extremely fast. These factors make a big impact for Google and other search engines.

Editor Mode

If you need to modify the content of your website without making changes to the design, Webflow's Editor Mode is the perfect solution.

Editor Mode offers a user-friendly interface that allows you to directly update and manage the content of your website. You can make changes to text, links, images, and CMS items without impacting the layout or style of your website. Additionally, you have the ability to manage pages, assets, form submissions, and site settings. Editor Mode is particularly useful for clients or collaborators who don't require the advanced features of the Designer. By inviting them to use Editor Mode, they can easily edit the content of their website without compromising the design.

To grant access to collaborators, simply add ?edit to the main URL of your website. It's as simple as that!

Designer Mode

Webflow is a platform that lets you create stunning websites without coding. But how does it work? The answer is Webflow’s Designer Mode, a visual interface that gives you full control over the design and functionality of your site.

Designer Mode is where you can drag and drop elements onto the canvas, style them with CSS properties, and add interactions and animations. You can also use Webflow’s CMS to create and manage dynamic content, such as blog posts, products, or portfolios.

Designer Mode is not just a simple website builder. It’s a powerful tool that lets you unleash your creativity and build websites that look and work exactly the way you want. Some of the key features of Designer Mode include:

  • Drag & Drop interface (again, yeah ;))
  • Embed custom code (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)
  • CSS3 flexible boxes
  • Responsive images
  • Global swatches
  • 3D transforms and animations
  • Design interactions without code
  • HTML5 background videos
  • Lightbox and lightbox galleries
  • HTML/CSS sliders and carousels
  • Contact and lead-generation forms
  • Dropdown menu
  • …and so much more.

And the Last, but Best Part of All

Webflow Community (the #Support)

The Webflow community is fantastic. We enthusiastically share our passion and knowledge about Webflow and web design in various places:

Here are some interesting facts about our community:

  • The Webflow community has over 85,000 members from around the world who connect and collaborate through livestreams, podcasts, events, forums, and Slack/Discord channels.

  • The Webflow community is highly creative and innovative, showcasing incredible websites and projects built with Webflow. You can find inspiration from the diverse and impressive work of our community members.

So, is Webflow worth it? From my perspective — absolutely! Last year, Digi2 Agency generated a substantial amount of revenue by working on side projects for our clients. In 2024, we plan to focus on Webflow and expand further because we see its potential.
